WHY IS BIBLE TRUTH SO IMPORTANT?

Bible Truth

THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE TRUTH

Is Bible Truth important to your Faith and Salvation ie. will you be saved despite what you believe the bible teaches or does it matter what you believe?

Well the word “truth” appears 237 times in the bible, that alone says it must be important!

Therefore it must be important to understand what “truth” is.

A quick scan of the passages using this word “truth” leave us in no doubt that it is not only important, but vital to our salvation.

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20

20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:3-4

3For thisis good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Clearly then knowing what is Bible Truth is important and vital, in addition to this we are also warned that some would depart from the “truth”…

1 Timothy 4:1

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 John 4:6

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

From these passages it is very clear that we need to know the “truth” about God and His Son as it is taught to us in the Bible.  This means we must learn what this is from the Bible itself.

Don't let your HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL rest with someone else eg. your pastor or minister, YOU owe it to yourself and your family to be fully convinced of what it is you believe to be sure it HOLDS something REAL for you.

We have all been warned by God that there would be many false teachers and Jesus himself has told us that "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."  See Matthew 7:14

Sadly when Christ returns to this earth, many will only then realise that they have believed in lies Jeremiah 16:19

"19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."

Don't let this be you or your family!

What We Believe

True Bible Teaching fundamental beliefs are:

  1. The Bible is God's word and the only message from him. It is without error, except for copying and translation errors.
  2. There is only one God - the Father. The Holy Spirit is God's power.
  3. Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary.
  4. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead.
  5. By living a sinless life, ending with his sacrificial death by crucifixion, Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death.
  6. Belief and baptism are essential steps to salvation.
  7. God raised Jesus from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return.
  8. When Jesus returns, he will raise his "sleeping" followers from death and grant immortality to the faithful who have tried to live by God's precepts.
  9. His followers will help him to rule, bringing justice, righteousness and peace to the whole world - the Kingdom of God.

The OFFER of LIFE or DEATH

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

The Bible is our only true source for the Truth!

If we claim to follow Christ we should trust in the Scriptures as confidently as Jesus and his Apostles did:

Jesus said that: The Scripture cannot be broken.  (John 10:35)

Paul said that: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Peter said that: For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21)

The things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven (1 Peter 1:12)

True faith must be founded on a fully inspired Bible.

Who is God and how can we get to know him?
Creation in the Beginning God

God Does Exist!
"… anyone who comes to him [God] must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Heb. 11:6). A tall order for the atheist admittedly - but the Bible gives us plenty of convincing evidence that God does indeed exist. In addition to this "intellectual" evidence, is "experiential" evidence - believers can see God at work in their own lives.

All people are without excuse not to know that there is a God, why is this?

Because the very evidence of God is all around us…. See Romans 1:19-20

“19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”

We are all part of God’s creation so from within us and without we are surrounded by the very evidence of the intelligent design of an all wise, all knowing and all powerful creator.

Examining the intricate structure of our bodies (Ps. 139:14), the evident design in a flower, gazing up into the vastness of space on a clear night, these and countless other careful reflections on life surely make atheism incredible. To believe that there is no God, and that everything and everyone we see around us, came from nothing and no-one, is against all the laws of probability. Surely this requires more faith than to believe that He exists. Without God there is no order, purpose or ultimate explanation in the universe, and this will, therefore, be reflected in the life of the atheist.

There Is Only One God: The Explosion of the Trinity Myth
Deuteronomy 6:4,5 states: "The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength". So the LORD's unity is strongly linked with His being our God, the sole Lord and unrivalled Master of His people. It was the unity of God, and the imperative from it to love Him with all the heart, which was programmatic for the Jews' daily living. This is why it was Jewish practice to recite these words several times a day, and also on their deathbed.Symbol of the False Trinity Doctrine

If there is only "one" God, as this passage clearly maintains, where does this leave the popular doctrine of the trinity? The trinity (symbolised by the logo on the right) is one of the greatest false doctrines of all time, in its claim that there are three "persons" in the Godhead. The word trinity is never even found in the Bible. The Bible teaches that God is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that the Holy Spirit is His special power. Three separate entities - not "three in one" - as the confusing doctrine of the trinity would have us believe.

More About God
God is from Everlasting to Everlasting

See what Hab. 1:12 builds upon the fact of God's everlasting nature: "O LORD, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, we will not die". If we truly believe that we are His people, not those of this world, and that we are truly part of His eternal family, then His eternity becomes a guarantee of our eternal salvation.

God is the Creator
Because of God's awesome creation and the power of the Word that formed it all, we should likewise stand in awe of Him and recognize the power of His word (Ps. 33:6-9). Because we are created in God's image, the structure of our very bodies is an imperative to give ourselves totally to His cause (Mt. 22:19-21). Whatever bears God's image - i.e. our very bodies - must be given to Him. "It is he who has made us, and [therefore] we are his" (Ps. 100:3). We must be His in practice because He is our creator. So it is not that we merely believe in creation rather than evolution; more than this, such belief in creation must elicit a life given over to that creator.

God Sees and Knows All Things Through His Spirit
The Old Testament character of Job knew this, and therefore, he commented, it was impossible that, he would lust after a woman, if he really believed (as he claimed he did) that God was omniscient: "I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl… [for] does he [God] not see my ways and count my every step? " (Job 31: 1 - 4).

Likewise God had to remind Israel: "Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him?" (Jer. 23:24). The context is appealing to the people to quit their sins. We should labour to enter the Kingdom, because God knows absolutely every thought and action of ours and will ultimately judge them (Heb. 4:11-13).

God is a Real, Personal Being
"An 'impersonal God'- well and good. A subjective God of beauty, truth and goodness, inside our own heads - better still. A formless life-force surging through us, a vast power which we can tap - best of all. But God Himself, alive, pulling at the other end of the cord, perhaps approaching at an infinite speed, the hunter, king, husband - that is quite another matter. There comes a moment when the children who have been playing at burglars hush suddenly: was that a real footstep in the hall? There comes a moment when people who have been dabbling in religion suddenly draw back. Supposing we really found Him?" (C.S. Lewis, Miracles ). But the personal reality of God is startling and gripping and eternally demanding.

God is a real, physical being, that we must come to “know” as the following points prove:

·       “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”  John 17:3 the words of Christ.3

So if we want “life eternal” then we must know God, therefore He must be a being that we can come to “know”.  (The Old Testament has been given to us principally for this very purpose)

Eg. His character is revealed to us in the Old Testament as a response to Moses’ request to see the “glory of God” in Exodus 33:18, in Exodus 34:5-9 he is granted his request as follows:

“And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. 6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. 8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. 9 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us…

  • It is a fundamental tenet of Christianity that Jesus is the Son of God. If God is not a real being, then it is impossible for Him to have a Son who was the "image of His person" (Heb. 1:3).
  • Further, it becomes difficult to develop a personal, living relationship with 'God', if 'God' is just a concept in our mind. It is tragic that the majority of religions have this unreal, intangible conception of God.
  • As God is so infinitely greater than we are, it is understandable that many peoples' faith has balked at the clear promises that ultimately we will see Him: "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God" (Mt. 5:8).
  • Jesus tells us that we should not swear, because "he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it" (Mt. 23:22). To "sit" one must be a physical being.
  • The faithful are promised that they will inherit God's nature (2 Pet. 1:4).
  • We will be given a body like that of Jesus (Phil. 3:21), and we know that he will have a physical body in the Kingdom.
  • The doctrine of the personality of God is, therefore, related to the Gospel of the Kingdom. There can be no sensible concept of worship, religion or personal relationship with God therefore until it is appreciated that God is a real being and that we are made in His image. We need to develop His mental likeness now, so that we may be made fully like Him in the Kingdom of God.

What Does This Mean for Me? The Practical Implications
There is a vast difference between having a vague notion that there is a higher power, and actually being certain of what He is offering in return for faithful service to Him. Heb. 11:6 makes this point, we "must believe that he [God] exists" AND "that he rewards those who earnestly seek him".

An awareness within us that there is a God, does not mean that we are automatically acceptable to God. If we seriously agree that we really do have a creator, we should "keep therefore his...commandments" (Dt. 4:39,40). As we search the Scriptures in order to do this, we will find that our faith in God's existence is strengthened.

Personal Testimony

There are many times in my life where I have seen the hand of God at work. Times when I've been lonely, or ill, or have been faced with a situation where I could see no way out - God has always provided me with strength and solutions. A case in point is when I was thinking of being baptised. God manoeuvred the circumstances of my life in such a way that I now know - with the benefit of hindsight - that He was calling me, and encouraging me to dedicate my life to Him by being totally immersed in water.

Firstly, a strange twist of events led me to complete my further education in a Roman Catholic College. This had the effect of making me compare what the Bible taught with what others believed, and strengthened my convictions when I saw that my Catholic friends had no answers to the points which I raised with them.

God also brought me into contact with young people of my own age, who befriended me and helped me to become more involved in the Christadelphian Community. These events - compounded with the knowledge I had of Bible teachings, and the heartfelt belief that as Christ had died for me I should, therefore, follow his commands (Mk 16: 16) - compelled me to be baptised. Definitely the best thing I ever did!

THE BIBLE - INSPIRED WORD OF GOD

Exploring The Bible

As we begin to consider the Bible and its message let us first answer some commonly asked questions.

What does "Holy Bible" mean ?

The word "Bible" comes from the Greek word "biblos" meaning "book". "Holy" is a word meaning "set apart" or "separate", with the idea of being set apart or dedicated by or for God. Therefore the name "Holy Bible" was given to this book because it was seen to be God's inspired Word, thus making it separate from all other books ever written.

When was the Bible written?

The Bible is in fact a collection of books or writings that were written over a period of approximately 1600 years by many different writers. The first books were written by Moses about BC 1500, while the last was written by John the Apostle around AD 100.

Why is the Bible divided into the Old and New Testaments?

If we look at the index in the front of the Bible we see that it contains 66 books. The translators divided these books into the Old and New Testaments many years after they were written. The Old Testament contains 39 books that were written in Hebrew before the birth of Christ, while the New Testament contains 27 books that were written in Greek after Christ.

Where was the Bible written?

There were many men whom God chose to write the Bible over a long period of time. Although most wrote in Israel there were some like Daniel and Ezekiel who wrote in Babylon and others like the apostles who wrote in different provinces of the Roman Empire. The amazing fact is that although the Bible was written over such a long period of time, in many different places and by many writers, its message is consistent and unified. This in itself indicates that God is its Author.

How did God cause these men to write the Bible?

There are many references in the Bible telling how God caused His message to be recorded. The Apostle Peter expresses it this way: "No prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:20-21). Thus Peter explains that God selected holy or God-fearing men to whom He made known His will. These men then wrote the message that they received from God. These combined writings have become the book we know as the Bible.

Why was the Bible written?

This question is answered this way by the Apostle Paul: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

The Bible was therefore given to teach man about God and His purpose, and to direct him into a way of life that is pleasing to God and rewarding to those who obey Him. Afterall as our Creator does not God have the right to bring on this earth the purpose for which He alone made it in the first place.  It is a great blessing to us individually that He has made US all with free will, that He has invited us to be a part of His Purpose is now up to US to decide whether we want to find out about it, be involved and live FOREVER in a perfect world

CreationScience.com

This website is a compilation of commonly known scientific evidence supporting creation — evidence in the fields of geology, biology, medicine, paleontology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, astrophysics, and astronomy, and specific research by esteemed scientists, and from my own personal experience as a consulting geologist and biologist.

This site was completed after having grown weary of false evolutionary doctrine promoted by public television, national networks and other media, and taught in our public schools. Although "evolutionary theory" does not meet the universally accepted definition of 'theory' or 'hypothesis' or, for that matter, the universally accepted defintion of 'science' (see section, Creation versus Evolution, for definitions), students continue to be taught evolution as “proven fact”—and later in life, they perpetuate this doctrine as teachers, journalists, and parents without question.

What many people today never hear and realize is the fact that so-called evolutionary theory is not based on known scientific laws or the preponderance of scientific evidence. Rather, scientific creation, as described in the Book of Genesis, is perfectly consistent with all known laws and evidence—and such evidence is overwhelming. The reality is, evolutionary doctrine is built on false assumptions and poor science. It is the greatest deception in modern history.

Why do secular scientists continue to adhere to a false evolutionary doctrine? This site provides the reasons, and summarizes much of the evidence for scientific creation. I ask any skeptical person to give this site an impartial reading before dismissing the scientific creationist viewpoint.

ARE YOU SAVED?  IF SO HOW ARE YOU SAVED?

Is YOUR knowledge of the BIBLE

and YOUR belief and worship of GOD

able to SAVE YOU?

Not sure? Well consider this passage from JOHN CHAPTER 17

"1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do."

The Greek word for "know" is 'genosko' and it means to have a thorough intellectual understanding of what something is all about.

Do you have this understanding of God and His Son

Jesus Christ?

The need for this full understanding of the TRUTH is further underlined by Christ's words in John 17:17Only a TRUE understanding of the Word of God can Save YOU

We are sanctified in our understanding of God's word of Truth ie. set apart as special unto God and Christ, without this we cannot be saved.  Just as Israel were not saved when they strayed from their TRUE knowledge of God.

God's special people the nation of Israel were destroyed for lack of knowledge as we read in Hosea 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

In Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee.

In Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

The Apostle Paul has warned us that some would not be in the Faith (ie. the true knowledge of God and Christ)...

1 Timothly 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
And again by the Apostle Peter...

2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

And in 2 Thessalonians where the Apostle Paul tells us that some would fall away from "the Truth" he says that this would be becaused they had lost their love of the Truth and had chosen rather to believe a lie.

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

"10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

And so the Apostle Paul counselled us all to Work out OUR OWN SALVATION...

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Use this True Bible Teaching Resource to help understanding some of the more difficult passages that many take in isolation to the rest of the Bible and claim that they teach things that the Bible does not teach.

The Bible is a large book, but it teaches us the truth from beginning to end, therefore anything towards the end of the Bible eg. The New Testament must agree with what is taught in the Old Testament, also remember that the divisions of the Bible into Old and New Testaments is a manmade one, the whole Bible is God's WORD to us and must be undersood consistently as such.
