EU Hails Historic Joint Defence Agreement

EU hails historic joint defence agreement, but many questions remain

Financing and co-ordination with NATO efforts are among biggest issues still to work out

Thomson Reuters Posted: Dec 14, 2017 12:07 PM ET Last Updated: Dec 14, 2017 2:15 PM ET

EUarmyFranceGermanyFrench President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, from the two countries among the most instrumental in the push, take part in a group photo on the launching of the Permanent Structured Cooperation, or PESCO, a pact between 25 EU governments to fund, develop and deploy armed forces together. (Yves Herman/Reuters)

European Union nations, now unfettered by Britain's decision to quit, achieved a 70-year-old ambition on Thursday to integrate their defences, launching a pact between 25 EU governments to fund, develop and deploy armed forces together.

European Council President Donald Tusk deemed the move "bad news for our enemies."

First blocked by the French parliament in the 1950s and later by Britain, which feared an EU army, the pact aims to end the squandering of billions of euros by splintered defence policies.

It is also aimed at lowering Europe's heavy reliance on the United States.

"More than half a century ago, an ambitious vision of the European Defence Community was created, but what was missing was the unity and courage to put it into practice," Tusk, who chairs EU summits, said of the failed 1950s attempt.

"The dream was at odds with reality. Today this dream becomes reality," he said in a speech in front of EU leaders and military personnel from each of the 25 countries involved.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, who helped push through Franco-German plans for defence integration, said earlier it "turns the European Union into a credible security provider."

French President Emmanuel Macron, whose election victory in May gave new impetus to efforts to revive defence co-operation after Britons voted in 2016 to leave the bloc, hailed "concrete progress." Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the pact would make the EU more agile abroad and would support NATO, not replace it.

In one irony noted by EU diplomats, British Prime Minister Theresa May, who is attending the summit, sees the project championed by Britain in the late 1990s go on without the country due to Brexit. Denmark, which has an opt out from EU defence matters, and Malta, were the only other EU countries not signing up.

The pact, called Permanent Structured Cooperation, or PESCO, is meant as a show of unity and a tangible step in EU integration, diplomats said, particularly after Britain's decision to leave.

Yet another major step towards the EU having it's own ARMY and COMMAND CENTRE. As BREXIT takes effect we will yet see this develpment turn into a fully fledged EU ARMY.  This move once again is in perfect alignment with Bible Prophecy which has foretold 2500 years ago.  The EU will become a SUPERSTATE with a dominant FEDERAL GOVERNMENT described in the Bible as a Beast System due to its amalgamation of different countries and peoples into one State with one Voice.  Along with this development we expect to see Russia become more involved in Europe with links to a combined army.  Again it's interesting that they see the development of a EU Army as an important next step.

So WATCH this development as it is a sure sign that we are living in the last days before Christ's Return.

This EU SUPERSTATE will along with Russia enter into a final conflict with Israel and the Middle East.  Germany is the key country in what Bible Prophecy refers to as the land of "Magog". The Land of MagogThey are spoken of militarily as the "King of the North".  Together the Bible says that Russia and the EU will invade the Middle East in the Last Days.  So Bible Students expect to see Germany and France taking a greater role in leading Europe.  It is also interesting to see Germany taking greater control of a continent they tried to take by war and failed.

Yet again we see in Todays News Headlines words that show how the Nations are fulfilling the latter day alignment of Nations as Prophesied by the Bible.

WHY IS BIBLE TRUTH SO IMPORTANT?

Bible Truth

THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE TRUTH

Is Bible Truth important to your Faith and Salvation ie. will you be saved despite what you believe the bible teaches or does it matter what you believe?

Well the word “truth” appears 237 times in the bible, that alone says it must be important!

Therefore it must be important to understand what “truth” is.

A quick scan of the passages using this word “truth” leave us in no doubt that it is not only important, but vital to our salvation.

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20

20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:3-4

3For thisis good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Clearly then knowing what is Bible Truth is important and vital, in addition to this we are also warned that some would depart from the “truth”…

1 Timothy 4:1

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 John 4:6

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

From these passages it is very clear that we need to know the “truth” about God and His Son as it is taught to us in the Bible.  This means we must learn what this is from the Bible itself.

Don't let your HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL rest with someone else eg. your pastor or minister, YOU owe it to yourself and your family to be fully convinced of what it is you believe to be sure it HOLDS something REAL for you.

We have all been warned by God that there would be many false teachers and Jesus himself has told us that "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."  See Matthew 7:14

Sadly when Christ returns to this earth, many will only then realise that they have believed in lies Jeremiah 16:19

"19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."

Don't let this be you or your family!

BIBLE TRUTH and true faith must be founded on a fully inspired Bible.

The OFFER of LIFE or DEATH

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

The Bible Is Our ONLY Guide

The Holy BibleThe Bible provides us with plain Scriptural Teaching for the True Followers of Christ

The statements on this guide represent what we believe is true Bible teaching. The statements are deliberately challenging, asking every reader to compare his own opinions with the plain teaching of Scripture, examining carefully the Bible passages offered as proof. If, as a result, a change of mind and heart is called for, there will be no doubt that the teaching of the Lord, and the book he trusted, must be followed and not what the churches teach.

All Scripture quotations are taken from the New King James (also known as the Revised Authorized) Version of the Bible.

Do YOU Face OBLIVION?

Print

True Bible Teaching - What the Bible really says about God and His Purpose

Do YOU Face OBLIVION?

Do YOU Face OBLIVION?Do YOU Face OBLIVION?

If you are of a pessimistic nature, you might think that “We came from oblivion and as sure as night follows day, after our relatively short period of conscious existence, we shall return to oblivion”. But is that really the case or is there a better alternative?

Life and Death

There was a time when we didn’t exist, when we had no consciousness, with neither feelings nor thoughts. That was the time before we were born. We came from there − from oblivion – and came into existence because God confers the gift of life upon everyone, whether we recognise it or not.

We are all born from oblivionAnd we know, all through our lives, that there will come a time when we will cease to be, because we have seen what happens to colleagues,

relatives and friends. Their life has ceased to exist, but have they returned to oblivion or have they any other prospect of continuing to exist, perhaps in a better place? To find out we need to consult the Bible, for that is our guide in all things that have to do with God and His gracious purpose.

Here are some Bible verses which explain that death is the cessation of existence:

For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 9:5–6).

They are dead, they will not live; they are deceased, they will not rise. Therefore You have punished and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish (Isaiah 26:14).

For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to the grave. I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength, adrift among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom You remember no more, and who are cut off from Your hand (Psalm 88:3–5).

Return, O Lord, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! For in death there is no  remembrance of You; in the grave who will give You thanks? (Psalm 6:4–5).

The Message Distorted

If your reaction to those passages is to dismiss them because they are from the Old Testament, not the New, it is well to remember that modern thinking about life after death has been adversely affected by the influence of Greek philosophy. In the four hundred years between the two Testaments, when Israel was ruled over by Persian and then Greek Empires, their belief systems were distorted by much fanciful thinking about automatic immortality.

That same thinking has affected much of church teaching and understanding, so that today many people assume that we have an inherent ability to continue living in heaven after we die, or might end up in Hell if we are unfortunate, though at funerals everybody is given the benefit of the doubt! Again, the question we should be asking is: “What does the New Testament teach about life after death?”

New Testament Death

The first thing to note is that the Lord Jesus Christ, no less, said this about heaven:

No one has ascended to heaven but he who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven (John 3:13).

Jesus had originated in heaven in the very thought and plan of God.  So as part of His Father’s rescue plan for mankind he came from His Father’s plan in heaven, but there is never any indication that other humans have migrated there after death. Jesus expressly denies that! His emphasis is clearly upon this life and the way we use our God-given opportunity, for God offers us the prospect of eternal life and Jesus died to make that possibility a reality for us, if we choose to obey God and respond to that offer now:

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He who believes in him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:14–18).

A New Testament Example

When Jesus’ friend Lazarus had died, he told his disciples: “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”  The disciples thought Jesus meant that Lazarus was having natural sleep but; “Jesus said to them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead’” (John 11:11–14).

When Jesus arrived in Bethany, near Jerusalem, his dear friend had been dead for four days (11:17) and his two sisters – Martha and Mary – both said “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died...”

Jesus did not say that Lazarus was now in a better place, or seek to comfort them by suggesting that he was now being looked after by the angels in heaven. Instead he said quite simply:

“Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:23–25).

That was a remarkable statement but Jesus then proceeded to show that it was no false claim. Proceeding to the tomb where Lazarus had been interred, he told the mourners to “Take  away the stone” and they did so despite the protestations that Lazarus had been dead four days and his body would have started to corrupt. Notice how Jesus was a complete master of the situation:

Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard me. And I know that You always hear me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent me.” Now when he had said these things, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go” (John 11:40–44).

This miracle showed forth the glory of God to all those who witnessed it and invited everyone to believe that God had sent him. Jesus is the key to both resurrection and eternal life.

Not the Whole Story

Death awaits us at the end of our life and we will all then be laid to rest in an unconscious state. If we are never awakened, and that will be the fate for some people, it means a return to the oblivion from which we came.

But it doesn’t have to be like that, as we are told in the Word of God. If we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, if we believe in the saving work of his death on the cross and obey his Commandments in our lives, then, although we die and return to the dust of the earth, resurrection is promised to those who have heard, understood and responded to the gospel message.

It was the prophet Daniel who said this:

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2).

This verse tells us clearly that there is going to be a day of judgement as well as a day of resurrection. Some will sleep on forever – in oblivion – but “many” shall awake to see the Lord Jesus in his glory.

Covered by Christ

Jesus once told a parable about the judgement to come known as the parable of the Wedding Feast. Read it in Matthew 22:1-14 and you will see that we can only be admitted into the joy of the Lord (as resurrection bliss is called) provided we are covered by Christ’s righteousness.

In the parable this covering is depicted as a “wedding garment”. In reality, it means that only through Christ can our sins be forgiven and we can be counted as righteous before God, when we believe in him and are baptized into his saving name.

Those who are rejected – who experience “weeping and gnashing of teeth” are those who return to oblivion having glanced what they might have experienced had they lived differently.

It is, therefore, a very wise thing to use the time we have upon this earth by seeking to obey God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, so that we will not end up in oblivion forever, but might be raised from the dead and be granted the enormous privilege of eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

When Jesus returns to earth, he will usher in a time of great blessing and then the life that God means us to enjoy will really begin.  God’s Kingdom on Earth.
