The three leaders vow to bring a 'lasting ceasefire' to Syria at summit in Ankara

  • Iran's Hassan Rouhani joined President Erdogan and President Putin in Ankara Wednesday for talks on Syria
  • Leaders are attempting to put aside their differences to achieve a 'lasting ceasefire' in the war-torn country

The leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran met in Ankara for talks today as they cemented their unlikely alliance over Syria in a challenge to US and western influence in the region.

President Putin, President Erdogan and President Rouhani vowed to work together to create a 'lasting ceasefire', build a hospital for wounded civilians in Eastern Ghouta, and allow refugees to return home.

But the deepening ties between the trio will be a concern to the US as its ability to influence the future of the country wains and President Trump openly mulls pulling troops out and dropping support for the Kurds.

Russia backs the Syrian government in the civil war (in red) and is joined by Iran and increasingly Turkey, though Turkey also backs rebel groups in the country's north (hash-marked red area) which are pitted against Assad. Meanwhile US influence largely relies on Kurdish groups (top right), though its support has been waning amid protests from Ankara

Russia Influence in ME

Russia and Iran are strategic partners, with Russia providing military and financial support in return for influence over the Middle East. Turkey, meanwhile, had been courting membership of the European Union but in the past few years has drawn closer to Russia. These deepening ties are of concern to Europe because Turkey acts as an important buffer zone for migrants, filters out jihadis attempting to cross the border, and is a NATO member

Iran and Russia have backed the Syrian regime since the start of the civil war, while Turkey has called for Assad to go from power and still backs anti-Assad rebels. However, Erdogan has formed an unlikely partnership with Putin as he attempts to drive armed Kurdish groups from his borders

Since the cold war Russia and Iran have been allies in their opposition to the United States and both are strong military and political backers of Syria.

Now Turkey has joined their efforts to protect Assad because it wants to crush US-backed Kurdish forces massing on its border.

Turkey and Russia have also been drawn together after President Erdogan announced his country would be purchasing Russian arms.

The deal $2.5 billion for the S-400 sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles, signed at the end of last year, came despite Turkey's membership of Nato.

The countries are now cooperating on Syrian peace efforts as well as projects in the defense industry and energy sectors, including $20 billion deal to build Turkey's first nuclear power station, which began construction yesterday.

Russia is Iran's major supplier of arms and last year the two nations signed a $30 billion energy co-operation deal.

Through these deals Russia now finds itself in the position of having influence in Turkey as well as Iran.

Those two countries themselves exert huge influence beyond their borders.

Turkey controls much of the flow of middle eastern refugees into Europe.

It signed a deal with the EU in March 2016 to reduce the number of migrants by agreeing to take back those whose asylum application has failed or who fail to apply for asylum.  If it reversed this deal the political consequences in Europe would be enormous.

Iran has been accused of supplying arms to the Taliban by the government of Afghanistan.

Another SIGN of just how close we are to Christ's Return.  Bible Prophecy has long shown that Turkey will never be a member of the EU and will withdraw from NATO as the Bible reveals that Turkey and Iran will have a close relationship with Russia in the lead up to mans final conflict and the return of Christ.  Ezekiel 38:1-9

The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog (chief one ie. the leader), of the land of Magog (Germany and surrounding areas), the chief prince of Meshek (Moscow) and Tubal (Tobolski); prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek (Moscow) and Tubal (Tobolski) 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia (Iran), Cush (Ethiopia) and Put (Libya) will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you. The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia (Iran), Cush (Ethiopia) and Put (Libya) will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer (France) with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you. 7 “ ‘Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. 8 After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. 9 You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.

So keep watching this development with Turkey and Iran as they move closer in their ties to Russia. Based on Bible Prophecy Turkey and Iran will both be with Russia and Europe when they invade the Middle East as described in Ezekiel 38.   We fully expect to see Russia become more closely linked to Europe militarily whereby Russia will become a "guard" unto the European Nations according to Ezekiel 38:7.

WHY IS BIBLE TRUTH SO IMPORTANT?

Bible Truth

THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE TRUTH

Is Bible Truth important to your Faith and Salvation ie. will you be saved despite what you believe the bible teaches or does it matter what you believe?

Well the word “truth” appears 237 times in the bible, that alone says it must be important!

Therefore it must be important to understand what “truth” is.

A quick scan of the passages using this word “truth” leave us in no doubt that it is not only important, but vital to our salvation.

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20

20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:3-4

3For thisis good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Clearly then knowing what is Bible Truth is important and vital, in addition to this we are also warned that some would depart from the “truth”…

1 Timothy 4:1

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 John 4:6

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

From these passages it is very clear that we need to know the “truth” about God and His Son as it is taught to us in the Bible.  This means we must learn what this is from the Bible itself.

Don't let your HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL rest with someone else eg. your pastor or minister, YOU owe it to yourself and your family to be fully convinced of what it is you believe to be sure it HOLDS something REAL for you.

We have all been warned by God that there would be many false teachers and Jesus himself has told us that "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."  See Matthew 7:14

Sadly when Christ returns to this earth, many will only then realise that they have believed in lies Jeremiah 16:19

"19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."

Don't let this be you or your family!

BIBLE TRUTH and true faith must be founded on a fully inspired Bible.

The OFFER of LIFE or DEATH

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

The Bible Is Our ONLY Guide

The Holy BibleThe Bible provides us with plain Scriptural Teaching for the True Followers of Christ

The statements on this guide represent what we believe is true Bible teaching. The statements are deliberately challenging, asking every reader to compare his own opinions with the plain teaching of Scripture, examining carefully the Bible passages offered as proof. If, as a result, a change of mind and heart is called for, there will be no doubt that the teaching of the Lord, and the book he trusted, must be followed and not what the churches teach.

All Scripture quotations are taken from the New King James (also known as the Revised Authorized) Version of the Bible.

True Bible Teaching - What the Bible really says about God and His Purpose

The Real Christ

The Real Christ - Jesus the Son of God

Who is the Real Christ?

It’s that time of year again when many people begin to think about the birth of Jesus Christ. Hymns and carols are sung about this great event and parents and grandparents attend nativity plays.

But who was Jesus Christ and why was he so important? Depending on who you ask about this you might get different responses. The atheist might reply by saying that Jesus was nothing more than a man who taught and lived a good life. A church theologian might respond by saying that Jesus was in fact God Himself, a part of a Trinity.

Who was Jesus?

Jesus born of Mary as son of man and son of GodBut who does the Bible say Jesus was? In Luke chapter 1 and at verses 31 and 32 we read of how the angel Gabriel comes to Mary, the mother of Jesus before Jesus was conceived. This is what the angel says to her:

“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:”

At verse 35 we read:

“…The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

This is a fulfillment of a prophecy in Isaiah 7:14

“Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

Here we are reading of how, through God’s power, Mary, a virgin, would become pregnant and give birth to Jesus. He was to be the Son of God. Note: he was not God the Son as some churches teach, this phrase is never used in the Bible. Jesus is not God. He was the Son of God and as such was also to be born as a human being, inheriting human nature from his mother, Mary.

Human Nature

Human nature is an interesting topic in the scriptures. Unlike the general consensus of our humanistic society which teaches us the goodness of man, the Bible paints a very different picture of mankind.

For example:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked (sick)…” Jeremiah 17:9

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” Romans 7:18

“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man” Matthew 15:19-20

Human nature has a bias towards sin. Towards doing that which is against God’s law.

The process of sin is explained to us in James:

“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:14-15

So man is drawn away from the things of God by his own lust that comes naturally to him. When he gives in to that lust he sins and sin brings death.

As we read in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death”.

Jesus the saviour of mankind

So what does this all have to do with Jesus?

Well the Bible tells us that this “state” of sin and the nature we have which tempts us to sin is something which is inherited from generation to generation. This goes right back to the first man and woman, Adam and Eve and the fist sin which was committed in the garden of Eden.

For example we read in Romans 5:

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

In the garden of Eden, both Adam and Eve both sinned. At that time that was all mankind. Because of this death passed or spread to all of their descendants as a consequence. A breach had occurred in the relationship between God and man. Generation after generation inherited two things from Adam - mortality and the temptation to sin.

Jesus Christ, because he was born of Mary as a human being also inherited this state. We read in Hebrews:

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” Hebrews 2:14

When we read of the devil here it is not speaking of an immortal fallen angel monster. The word “diabolos” simply means “false accuser” or “liar”. Here we have a literacy device called “personification”.

The thing which has the power of death is human nature, which leads men to sin. However here it is given a personality “him that had the power of death”.

Jesus destroyed the devil

How did Jesus destroy this power? By overcoming, through God’s spirit power, the inclinations of his human nature. He was the only human being to live to not sin. As it says in Peter, Jesus “did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:” (2 Peter 2:22).

We are told in Hebrews though he was tempted to sin:

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15

In order to do no sin Jesus had to completely obey his Father. This meant following through with the most painful and excruciating death one could imagine, that of crucifixion. The question to ask here is “why would a loving God require His son to die?”.

The answer is in Romans 8:3:

“…God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin (marg. a sin offering), condemned sin in the flesh:”

Jesus’ death meant something. It had sacrificial principles. He was to condemn sin in his flesh. He was to overcome. This was God’s way of opening up a way of salvation and reversing the effects of Adams fall. Only one who possessed the inclination to sin and yet overcome its temptations completely could be a perfect sacrifice to take away sin.

Because Jesus did not sin we read:

“Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you… Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.” Acts 2:22-24

God raised him from the dead and removed his mortal and sin prone human nature.

In God’s love and mercy we read in the Bible of how, on account of associating oneself with Christ’s sacrifice through baptism, God is willing to forgive our sins, and also, if we are found worthy when Christ returns, to remove our human nature with it’s temptations and grant us eternal life in God’s Kingdom.

In Romans 3 we read of Christ’s sacrificial work. He was “set forth to be a propitiation (or mercy seat / meeting place) through faith in his blood”. This act declared God’s “righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God” Romans 3:24-26.

The sacrifice of Christ showed how worthless human nature is. God was righteous, or right, for Christ to be required to die because he bore the source of sin in his flesh. He was also right to raise him from the dead because he not once gave into that nature.

The true hope of the Bible believer

The wonder of the Bible is the message that if we believe in the meaning of Christ’s death and have faith that the shed blood of Christ declares God’s right-ness, we can have a hope of eternal life in the future on account of that. We declare that faith in baptism and a life patterned on Christ. As we read in Philipeans 3:20-21:

“For our conversation (way of life) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all thijgs unto himself.”

What a wonderful hope the Bible therefore proclaims. That Jesus Christ can be our representative. That on account of this we can have the hope of salvation. Such a different hope to the one published by mainstream Christianity around with it’s ideas of the immortal soul, floating off into heaven upon death because of a substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus.
