President Donald Trump is chasing the 'toughest deal of all' - Middle East peace - and he says he's pouring his heart and soul into obtaining it.

'It's a complex subject, always been considered the toughest deal of all, peace between Israel and the Palestinians, the toughest of all, but I think we have a very, very good chance, and I certainly will devote everything within, within my heart and within my soul to get that deal made,' he told Palestine's Mahmoud Abbas.

Trump told Abbas as they sat down on Wednesday for another round of discussions that he believes peace can be achieved throughout region.

'I think we have a pretty good shot, maybe the best shot ever,' Trump assessed.

Trump and ME peace

President Donald Trump says he's giving Middle East peace talks his all. 'Always been considered the toughest deal of all...but I think we have a very, very good chance,' he told Palestine's Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday

The U.S. president said Monday that he believes his administration will be the one to finally facilitate peace between Israel, Palestine and their neighbors.

At the beginning of a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday afternoon on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Trump said he's 'giving it an absolute go.'

'I think there's a good chance that it could happen,' Trump posited.

Netanyahu affirmed that they would discuss 'the way we can seize the opportunity for peace' not just between Israel and Palestine but Israel and Arab nations in the region.

After the meeting, Brian Hook, a State Department official, told reporters at the United Nations that Trump 'is deeply committed to achieving an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.'

'He and his team have continued deliberations with leaders on both sides on potential steps to reach a comprehensive peace agreement. His team recently had multiple meetings with leaders in the region, and obviously a good deal of work remains to be done, but discussions remain serious and constructive,' Hook stated.

Abbas said Wednesday that Trump's repeated meetings with him are proof that he's committed to facilitating a deal.

'It attests to the seriousness of Your Excellency, Mr. President, to achieve the deal of the century in the Middle East during this year or in the coming months, God willing,' Abbas said through an interpreter.

'And we are very certain that you, Mr. President, are determined to reach real peace in the Middle East. And this gives us the assurance and the confidence that we are on the verge of real peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis,' Abbas added.

Well we will have to wait and see if President Donald Trump can advance the cause for Peace in the Middle East.  As True Bible Students we fully expect to see a measure of peace develop in the Middle East before Christ Returns. At the time of the end when the Battle of Armageddon takes place Israel is described as a land at rest, dwelling in peace.  We read this in Ezekiel 38:11-12

“11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.”

So from this passage we see that Israel will be a land at rest without "walls, having neither bars nor gates". Clearly something has yet to change to bring this about as Israel has been building "walls" with "bars and gates" to keep the Palestinians out.  So we need to watch and see what might develop from President Donald Trumps moves to establish peace, he seems very confident that he can do it and given his business deal making background vs his non political background he might be just the one to bring about something new.

WHY IS BIBLE TRUTH SO IMPORTANT?

Bible Truth

THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE TRUTH

Is Bible Truth important to your Faith and Salvation ie. will you be saved despite what you believe the bible teaches or does it matter what you believe?

Well the word “truth” appears 237 times in the bible, that alone says it must be important!

Therefore it must be important to understand what “truth” is.

A quick scan of the passages using this word “truth” leave us in no doubt that it is not only important, but vital to our salvation.

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20

20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 Timothy 2:3-4

3For thisis good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Clearly then knowing what is Bible Truth is important and vital, in addition to this we are also warned that some would depart from the “truth”…

1 Timothy 4:1

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 John 4:6

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

From these passages it is very clear that we need to know the “truth” about God and His Son as it is taught to us in the Bible.  This means we must learn what this is from the Bible itself.

Don't let your HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL rest with someone else eg. your pastor or minister, YOU owe it to yourself and your family to be fully convinced of what it is you believe to be sure it HOLDS something REAL for you.

We have all been warned by God that there would be many false teachers and Jesus himself has told us that "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."  See Matthew 7:14

Sadly when Christ returns to this earth, many will only then realise that they have believed in lies Jeremiah 16:19

"19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."

Don't let this be you or your family!

BIBLE TRUTH and true faith must be founded on a fully inspired Bible.

The OFFER of LIFE or DEATH

God's Offer of LIFE or DEATH

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.   See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him… This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…"  Deuteronomy Chapter 30:12-20

From this passage we see how important it is to each one of us that we seek after God and His Word the Bible to us.

Without this we have no hope of LIFE, but only a future of DEATH.

This Word of God was originally given to the Nation of Israel and later it spread via the Apostles of Christ to the World, that even we today might have this same HOPE of LIFE ETERNAL.

It is UP to YOU then to seek out God’s Word, to KNOW what is the TRUTH of God’s Word so that you and your family might KNOW the way of LIFE ETERNAL and the great HOPE of living in God’s Kingdom on EARTH.

Do not let your HOPE rest upon others and most importantly on what others teach, search it out for yourself because we have been warned that the churches would be astray from God’s word in the last days.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”   2 Timothy 4:3-4

Too much is at stake for you to not act yourself to seek out the TRUTH.

Christ himself has told us to do this when he said…

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Godis a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

The Bible Is Our ONLY Guide

The Holy BibleThe Bible provides us with plain Scriptural Teaching for the True Followers of Christ

The statements on this guide represent what we believe is true Bible teaching. The statements are deliberately challenging, asking every reader to compare his own opinions with the plain teaching of Scripture, examining carefully the Bible passages offered as proof. If, as a result, a change of mind and heart is called for, there will be no doubt that the teaching of the Lord, and the book he trusted, must be followed and not what the churches teach.

All Scripture quotations are taken from the New King James (also known as the Revised Authorized) Version of the Bible.

Why Was Christ Crucified?

Print

True Bible Teaching - What the Bible really says about God and His Purpose

Why Was Christ Crucified?

Why was Christ Crucified?

Christ's CrucifixionThe simple answer is this:

Christ was crucified because of man's sinfulness and God's love and righteousness

What does that mean? Let's look deeper...

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Paul’s Letter to the Romans, chapter 6, verse 23)

These words summarise both the problem and the solution to our human predicament.

They tell us why we need salvation and how salvation can be achieved.

Let’s briefly summarise the situation:

We all sin against God and therefore we all die.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Paul’s Letter to the Romans, chapter 3, verse 23)

“But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (The Letter of James, chapter 1, verses 14 & 15)

Jesus Christ is the only person who did not sin, and therefore did not deserve to die.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (The Letter to the Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 15)

“He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.” (Peter’s First Letter, chapter 2, verse 22)

In His justice, God raised Jesus from death and gave him everlasting life.

“God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.” (The Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2, verse 24)

“We know that Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.” (Paul’s Letter to the Romans, chapter 6, verse 9)

God mercifully grants forgiveness and everlasting life to those who truly and faithfully believe in what Jesus has achieved and try to follow him.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (The Good News according to John, chapter 3, verse 16)

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace…” (Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, chapter 1, verse 7)

Two important questions arise from this:

1.     Why was Jesus able to succeed when others failed?

2.     Why did Jesus have to suffer the agony and humiliation of death on the cross?

Why was Jesus able to succeed?

Jesus is a unique person. The Bible tells us that he is the only begotten Son of God. These words are not just a title given to Jesus. They mean that God really is his Father. The mother of Jesus was Mary, an ordinary devout young woman.

This is how the Bible explains Jesus’ birth:

“Then Mary said to the angel, ‘How will this be, since I am a virgin?’ And the angel answered her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy – the Son of God.’” (The Good News according to Luke, chapter 1, verses 34 & 35).

Just as we inherit characteristics from both parents, so Jesus inherited characteristics from his mother Mary, and his Father, God.

  • As Son of Mary (“Son of Man” is the title often used in the Bible), Jesus inherited human weakness and the nature which leads us to sin. He was “in every respect… tempted as we are, yet without sin” (The Letter to Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 15).
  • As Son of God, Jesus showed the glory of his Father, all through his life:

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (The Good News according to John, chapter 1, verse 14).

Jesus was so in tune with God’s ways that he triumphed over every temptation.

Jesus was uniquely qualified both to identify with human weakness and to triumph over it.

Why did Jesus die on the cross?

The Bible says that Jesus was “delivered up [to be crucified] according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God” (The Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2, verse 23).

And again in Acts 3:18 “But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer”

So the crucifixion was not a chance happening. It was part of God’s purpose which was foreshadowed throughout the Old Testament, by the sacrifices under the Law of Moses, and significant events in the lives of God’s people. So the Gospels show us that Jesus went willingly and purposefully to his death.

A matter of principle

The crucifixion vividly demonstrated an important principle. God has sentenced sinful man to death. From personal experience Jesus knew the weakness of human nature and said himself:

“The flesh [i.e. human nature and the things associated with it] is of no avail.” (The Good News according to John, chapter 6, verse 63)

By the crucifixion Jesus publicly acknowledged God’s justice in condemning sinful mankind to death. Jesus was in effect saying: “This is what human nature deserves. God is right, mankind is wrong!”

As a cruel murder of a totally innocent man, the crucifixion was in itself clear evidence of the inherent wickedness of human nature.

Summary

Let's summarise:

  • Jesus shared human nature and experienced its weakness.
  • By living as an obedient servant of God, every day of his life, Jesus conquered human nature.
  • By willingly going to the cross, Jesus acknowledged that God was right to condemn man to death.
